PAST

RAF FAMILY FUN DAY PERFORMANCE

(AUGUST 2009)

All Dancetopia's pupils involved we're from the dance classes at Halton Village Hall. All the pupils attended the RAF Family Fun Day and performed in the event. The pupils involved we're age's 2 - adults and all performed a dance piece from their age group. Each group performed a street dance.

The first dance to be performed was by the parent and toddler dance class with age's 2-4 years, each parent worked with their own child and developed a strong performing relationship. The dance consisted of set choreography, work the parents had created with their child and some real challenging moves, flips, balances, cartwheels, forward rolls, handstands and more.

("Well done you all did me proud")

The second dance piece to be performed was by age's 5-8 years, using the sound track from the film step up 2. The pupils again used, set choreography, movements and sequences which they had created in class and at home.

("What an excellent performance, well done")

The third dance piece to be performed was from age's 9 - adults. This dance piece was  extremely challenging  and risky, with pupils being flipped backwards from a great height, shoulder stands, forward and backward rolls, floor work, foot work and complicated set choreography.

("You we're all fabulous and again did me proud, well done")

The final dance piece to be performed was from the adults and was a street dance, using the theme of the military using movements and props from the RAF. Again the pupils used set choreography and work which they had created in class.

("Well done, you proved to be a success with the audience and all  the staff in the RAF")

Overall the day was a huge success and I want to thank all involved including all of the performers and staff that made the dance event possible. All performers really did Dancetopia proud!!!!!!

PRESENT

DANCE 2 COMMUNICATE (Project 1.)

 Aim of future project:

To bring the community together by working with local nurseries, schools and colleges and putting on a dance show towards the end of 2011.

Dance 2 communicate will explore many styles of dance, themes and topics. The choreographer will liaise with the pupils and schools and will work on a dance piece using the theme, topic or issue chosen by the pupils. The pupils will get given the opportunity to choreograph sections of the piece allowing them to work on their creative and choreography skills. There is a list of themes e.t.c. to choose from, which can be found in the information pack.

There will be an annual show where all nurseries, schools and colleges will come together to show their work over two afternoons. There will be a fee which the Nursery, school or college will have to pay to take part which is non refundable and will cover the choreographers fees, show costs, costumes, hiring of extra staff, venue hire and advertising costs.  The entry fee is to be found in the prices section of the website.

There will be a limited amount of spaces available with a total of 20 pupils per school, each school can enter more then one age group for no additional cost. The Nursery, school or college can recommend pupils to enter or Dancetopia can create an audition process if more than 20 pupils are interested. The choreographer will work over a period of  10 weeks with the pupils and  this will include one rehearsal a week after school for 1 hour and a technical and dress rehearsal leading up to the show, which all pupils must attend. The technical and dress rehearsal will be held at the chosen performance venue, but all details will follow.
